Aircraft
Aircraft on TerraPulse are organized into the aircraft MovingPlatformDex — one slot
per tracked airframe, each a measured record of a real aircraft broadcasting its position,
drawn from the ADS-B Exchange live feed. These are observed transponder returns, not filed
flight plans or forecasts.
The dexes
The record lives in a single MovingPlatformDex — one slot per airframe, its track built up from live position reports. Counts are live and grow as new aircraft are seen:
| Dex | Holds | Aircraft |
|---|---|---|
aircraft | Live-tracked aircraft, by airframe | 9,886 |
Provenance
Every track traces to the ADS-B Exchange (adsb.fi) feed, a community-run network of receivers that captures aircraft broadcasting Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) position reports. The source is registered against the dex, so any record carries a direct line back to the originating transponder return.
What’s in a record
Each airframe slot carries:
- Identity — ICAO hex, callsign, and registration where broadcast
- Position — latitude, longitude, and barometric or GPS altitude
- Motion — ground speed, heading, and vertical rate
- Timing — the position-report timestamp, UTC
