Current Conditions (Open-Meteo)
Updated every 10 minutes for 10 major cities across all continents:
- Temperature — 2m above ground, in °C
- Humidity — Relative humidity percentage
- Wind Speed — 10m above ground, in km/h
- Precipitation — Current rainfall in mm
- Weather Code — WMO standard weather classification
Historical Reanalysis (NASA POWER)
Daily data from NASA’s MERRA-2 reanalysis at ~50km global resolution, updated daily with a ~5 day lag:
- Temperature — Daily mean, min, and max at 2m
- Solar Irradiance — All-sky surface shortwave in kWh/m²
- Precipitation — Corrected daily total in mm
- Wind Speed — 10m daily average in m/s
- Humidity — Daily mean relative humidity
NASA POWER data goes back to 1981, making it invaluable for understanding long-term climate trends and detecting anomalies.
Climate Indices
We also track the major ocean-atmosphere oscillations that drive global weather patterns:
- MEI v2 — Multivariate ENSO Index (El Niño/La Niña)
- ONI — Oceanic Niño Index
These indices update monthly and provide crucial context for interpreting weather patterns worldwide.
