Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA strong north wind, behind a low pressure area over the western Great Lakes, produced ground blizzard conditions across the northern Red River Valley during the early morning hours. A peak wind of 51 mph was reported at the Hallock airport. Snow amounts were light, ranging from a trace to 2 inches. US Highway 2 was closed from East Grand Forks to Crookston. Many accidents occurred and several motorists were stranded until conditions improved later in the morning. Some schools closed for the morning, and others closed for the whole day.
