In the lower elevations, snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches were common. This included the communities of Elkins, Dailey, Webster Springs, Summersville, and Mount Nebo. The snow pack across the river valleys was actually settling and melting from the warmer ground. At elevations above 3000 feet, the total snow accumulations were a foot or more. For example, in the mountains of Randolph County, the snow depth at Kumbrabow State Forest went from 2 inches prior to the storm, to 17 inches by late afternoon on the 1st. |
