Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeHeavy snow of 7 to 9 inches fell across Big Stone and Traverse counties from late in the evening of the 9th to the late in the evening of the 10th. In the morning hours of the 10th, northwest winds increased to 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph which resulted in widespread blizzard conditions into the late evening hours of the 10th. Many schools were closed across the area on the 10th and on the 11th. Also, many roads were closed due to ice build up and low visibilities. Many motorists slid off the roads and became stranded. There were some trees and tree limbs brought down by the storm. Power outages also occurred as result of icing and the powerful winds. Some snowfall amounts included, 7 inches at Browns Valley, 8 inches at Artichoke Lake, and 9 inches at Wheaton.
