| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | A low pressure system moved into the central Ohio River Valley the morning of the 9th. Its associated warm front extended east into the Delmarva Peninsula. A second low pressure system developed along this boundary on the Delmarva Peninsula the evening of the 9th and moved rapidly offshore the morning of the 10th. As this secondary low developed, it pulled down colder air from New York State and Canada and the rain began to change to snow over the higher terrain of the Poconos during the early evening of the 9th. This became an elevation snow event with heavy snow falling over the highest terrain of Monroe County and little if any snow in the valleys of both Carbon and Monroe County. While East Stroudsburg reported no measurable snow and a storm precipitation total of 1.55 inches, 9.7 inches of heavy wet snow had accumulated at Blakeslee at an elevation of 2200 feet by the time the snow ended the morning of the 10th. Other accumulations included 4 inches in Long Pond and 2 inches in Tobyhanna. Around two inches of snow also accumulated over the higher terrain in Lehigh and Northampton Counties after 10 p.m. EDT on the 9th. |
