| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Low pressure moving eastward from the lower Great Lakes to off the mid-Atlantic Coast brought heavy snow to parts of the western Maine mountains and southwestern Maine. Elsewhere in western Maine, moderate snowfall amounts were reported. Snowfall amounts were generally in the 4 to 8 inch range in western Maine with reports of more than 10 inches in the western mountains. This snowfall continued to create additional problems for those without electricity, heat, running water, and the normal conveniences of modern-day living, and hindered power restoration efforts to the approximately 80,000 customers (estimated 180,000 people) who continued to be without power after the January 5 - 9 ice storm. |
