Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAnother spring storm brought heavy snow to the Front Range Foothills. Thirty to 40 vehicles were involved in accidents along Interstate 70 near Georgetown. A 17-car pileup was also reported near Copper Mountain. The combination of poor visibilities, slick roads and careless drivers led to the multi-car pileups. Only minor injuries were reported. The accidents forced the closure of all of I-70's eastbound lanes. Snowfall totals included: 19 inches at Doubleheader, 16 inches at South Turkey Creek, 12 inches at Genessee, with 10 inches reported at Aspen Springs, Chief Hosa, Georgetown, 11 miles southwest of Morrison and North Turkey Creek. Snowfall totals ranged from 5 to 9 inches elsewhere.
