Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeBy around 1 A.M. on the 4th , the rain began changing to snow in the northwest Georgia mountains. Between 4 A.M. and 8 A.M. the snow had spread southward into counties in the western Atlanta suburbs and eastward into the northeast Geoprgia mountains. It was occasionally mixed with sleet. Accumulations of snow and sleet were generally 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches. Larger amounts were reported in the mountains. The snow ended or diminished to flurries in northwest Georgia by late morning, and in northeast Georgia by mid afternoon. . The main effect was more than a normal amount of traffic accidents. Schools were cancelled in several counties also.
