Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeHeavy snow and near blizzard conditions developed along the northern border counties of New Mexico as an intense storm formed over eastern Colorado. Snow amounts ranged as high as 10 to 12 inches in the high mountains of Taos county and as far east as Folsom and Capulin in Union count. An extreme amount of 24 inches was reported at Lake Maloya northeast of Raton. Snow amounts were much lighter over the remainder of Colfax and Union counties, but winds of 20 to 30 mph caused high drifts which closed roads in many areas. Gusty northwest winds of 45 to 60 mph also reached south into the northern Sandia Mountains and southwest Santa Fe County. High winds also unroofed a business in Raton.
