| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | A light mix of wintry precipitation began during the day near the mountains and gradually increased in intensity. Most precipitation was originally moderate to heavy rain in the piedmont and foothills but changed over to freezing rain, primarily along and north of Interstate 85, as the night wore on. Ice storm conditions developed during the night with a number of downed trees and power lines causing power outages which lasted into the next day. The greatest accumulations of ice were in and near the mountains with significant damage also noted around Anderson, Greenville, and in northern Spartanburg county. Numerous trees continued to fall after the precipitation ended causing enormous work for road crews in Oconee, Pickens, and Greenville counties. Damage could be considerably higher than the amount listed. |
