episode_narrativeA coastal storm moving northeastward from Virginia to Maine brought heavy snow to all except the extreme southeast corner of the state. Snowfall ranged from 6 inches in the Upper Connectticut River Valley to up to 16 inches in the central part of the state. In southern areas, the wet, heavy snow downed numerous trees and power lines causing about one quarter of the state population to lose electrical power. For some, the power outage lasted as much as five days. This storm was the most extensive and costliest weather related power outage in the state's history.
