| episode_narrative | A low pressure system developed over South Carolina and Georgia the morning of the 7th and moved quickly northeast passing over the Delmarva Peninsula during the late afternoon of the 7th, just east of the New Jersey coast during the evening of the 7th and near Portland Maine on the morning of the 8th. In a similar occurrence to what transpired during the morning of the 6th, precipitation spread across the Poconos by noon on the 7th and precipitation type became elevation dependent. While a mixture of rain and snow fell in the valleys, more heavy wet snow fell over the higher terrain. The heaviest snow fell during the late afternoon and early evening on the 7th. Snowfall accumulations averaged about an inch or two in the valleys (including East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg) to around 6 inches over the higher terrain in Northern Carbon and Monroe Counties. Numerous accidents were reported in Coolbaugh, Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna and Tunkhannock Townships. The Pocono Mountain Regional Police requested that all motorists stay off the roads. Numerous accidents were also reported in Kidder, Nesquehoning and Weatherly Townships in Carbon County. |
