episode_narrativeDuring December 7 and 8, a low pressure system moved from the Chesapeake Bay northeast to Portland Maine. The winter storm dumped heavy wet snow across Bennington and Windham Counties in southern Vermont. Power outages were widespread as the heavy snow downed many trees and power lines. Approximately 20,000 customers lost power in southern Vermont. In Windham County, the communities of Putney, Guilford and Saxtons River were virtually shut down during the height of the storm. Some specific snowfall totals included: 14 inches at Peru and 11 inches at Dorset and Pownal in Bennington County and 16 inches at West Wardsboro in Windham County.
