| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Thunderstorms accompanied a very strong arctic cold front as it moved across the Texas Hill Country during the early morning hours of November 24th. Morning temperatures in the 60s and 70s across the Hill Country plunged into the 20s and 30s within 2 to 3 hours after frontal passaage. Snow began to fall across the Hill Country a few hours after the front had passed, and continued falling into the evening. Snow depth across the above counties ranged from 4 inches along the edges of the snow area in Val Verde, Llano, Burnet, Gillespie, Kerr and Bandera Counties to as much as 14 inches in eastern Edwards County and northern Real County. Snow drifts of up to 3 feet were reported along Hill Country highways by the mid-afternoon. As a result, most roads across the area were closed through the afternoon and early evening on Sunday. Dozens of vehicle accidents were reported due to the hazardous road conditions. Although most major highways were clear again by late Sunday night, a large number of schools were dismissed the following Monday morning. Only a relatively minor number of power outages was reported from across the snowfall area. |
