| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Continuous snow mixed with rain at times caused power outages and collapsed buildings throughout the region. 24 hour snowfall at Troy from 11/21/96 to the morning of 11/22/96 was 7 inches. 6 inches of new snow was reported along Highways 35 and 83 the morning of 11/25/96. Big Mountain ski resort in Whitefish received a 24 hour snowfall of 11 inches by the morning of 11/28/96. On 11/24/96 a garage collapsed in Hungry Horse and totaled a car. 500 to 700 customers between Swan-Clearwater Divide and Goat Creek were without power as trees weighted down with snow fell over power lines and broke wires. Hundreds of tall, small diameter trees fell across power lines breaking cross arms on poles and tearing power lines throughout Lincoln and Sanders Counties. On 11/27/96 a Plains building Supply building collapsed due to heavy snow; a shop in Thompson Falls collapsed from heavy wet snow and damaged a pickup truck and a car. A shop and greenhouses between Thompson Falls and Plains suffered from collapsed roofs. |
