Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA worsening drought along with windy and dry conditions created an environment for large wildfires. A very large wildfire occurred in Moore county near Dumas in the late afternoon and early evening.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Blue wildfire began approximately 2 miles south southwest of Dumas Texas in Moore county around 1705CST. The wildfire consumed 1,920 acres which was measured by GPS mapping. The fire exhibited moderate spread potential while smoldering and moving in grass fuels. Ten homes were threatened and saved. Texas A&M Forest Service personnel and heavy equipment worked alongside local fire departments and county equipment to contain the fire. Late last night, crews completed constructing containment line around the fire while also mopping up and patrolling the fire area. There were no reports of any injuries or fatalities and there were no reports of any homes or other structures that were damaged or destroyed. The wildfire was finally contained around 0500CST on October 27.
