Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeDry conditions across South Florida allowed a wildfire to burn in Miami-Dade County for several days (fire ignited in May). The fire ignited near a densely populated area, but thankfully no injuries or damage was reported. However, proximity of the fire and smoke resulted in the closure of Krome Ave for a period of time.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeReported road closures on Krome Ave between Kendall Drive and SW 8 Street due to Mile Marker 19 wildfire that ignited in the area on May 31st and became 100% contained on June 5th. There were no reported injuries or evacuations other than road closures. The size of the wildfire ended up being approximately 600 acres. The cause of the wildfire, not a prescribed fire, is still under investigation.
