Cured ground fuels remained in place across much of Brooks County owing to various freeze events from weeks prior, as well as lack of rainfall in a spot of southeastern Brooks County that led to Extreme (D3) Drought conditions at the time the fire ignited. The North Jones Fire ignited on February 9th and continued until February 10th when it was 100% contained. The fire consumed around 4,000 acres.
