| Event narrativeevent_narrative | The 21 Command wildfire began around 1215CST about two miles west southwest of Goodwell Oklahoma in Texas County. The wildfire started just south of County Highway 51 and between County Roads 20 and 21. The wildfire consumed four hundred and eleven acres and was listed as suspicious and determined to have been caused by an incendiary device. The Texas County Sheriff's Office was investigating. The Union Pacific railroad line was damaged with four hundred an eighty ties burned. The railroad and U.S. Highway 54 was closed for nearly two hours. There was a report that four homes were threatened but were saved. There were no reports of any damages, injuries or fatalities. The Goodwell Volunteer Fire Department, the Guymon Fire Department, the Texhoma Volunteer Fire Department, the Hough Volunteer Fire Department the Yarbrough Volunteer Fire Department, the Hooker Volunteer Fire Department, and the Stratford Texas Volunteer Fire Department responded to the wildfire. Texas County tankers and maintainers also responded. The Oklahoma Forestry Services Task Force responded from Woodward Oklahoma. The wildfire was contained in roughly six hours or about 1830CST. |
