The fire was spread by southwest winds and consumed 1200 acres before being contained on May 24th. The wildfire did not damage any structures but did cause a temporary closure of Chiricahua National Monument.

The fire slowed as it reached higher and rocky terrain in the footprint of the 2011 Horseshoe 2 Fire. The national monument was evacuated and closed for several days, but no structures were damaged in the fire.
