Guam saw only 1.08 inches of rain compared to|the usual 3.38 inches. Guam does have adequate water resources, but the |dry conditions have allowed grass fires to flare up across the island.||On May 7th a large fire began on Nimitz Hill and burned for a few days. It destroyed|an estimated 300 to 400 acres of uninhabited jungle. It came under control by the |10th. The fire came close to military housing on Turner Road and as close as 30 feet to the KSTO radio studio.
