episode_narrativeWith D4 Exceptional Drought conditions ongoing across Bienville Parish during the middle of October, the wildfire danger was very high. An isolated thunderstorm moved across the area on the evening of Monday, October 12th between 9 and 10 pm. Residents called 911 reporting a lightning strike and fire approximately 4 miles east southeast of Heflin, Louisiana. A wildfire began from the lightning strike and through Thursday, October 15th, burned between 1000 and 1400 acres of timberland and grassland. Although two dozen homes were threatened, only one home was lost. There were no injuries reported. Another fire began on Tuesday, October 13th approximately 5 miles east southeast of Bienville in Bienville Parish. This fire, known as the Liberty Hill Fire, burned mostly timerland and grasslands with total acres lost between 700 and 1000 acres. Although 5 homes and one church was threatened, only one home was lost. There were no injuries reported.
