| episode_narrative | The North fire began along Interstate 15 at the Cajon Summit in the early afternoon of the 17th. A mandatory evacuation order was issued for the Baldy Mesa area between Phelan and Hesperia. Interstate 15 was closed in both directions for hours with several cars still on the road. The fire burned rapidly on and near Interstate 15, destroying 20 vehicles and damaging 10 others, as well as destroying 5 homes. The fire burned a total of 3500 acres surrounding the interstate before being fully contained later that evening. The cause of the fire is unknown. |
