episode_narrativeThe fire started along the Tongue River Canyon Trail, one mile up the canyon from the trailhead, located on the Amsden Creek Wildlife Habitat Management area around 4 pm MDT on August 2nd. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation but is believed to be human caused. The fire burned approximately 1,700 acres in a mixed conifer forest in rugged terrain which made it complicated for firefighters to battle the blaze. Two helicopters, air tankers, smoke jumpers, three hand crews, county engines and dozers were among the resources on the fire. No structures were lost by the fire.
