About 115 acres burned by 9 p.m. EDT. The fire spread into southern Berkeley Township. Dover Road between Lacey and Berkeley Townships was closed because of smoke drift. The fire was brought under control at 6 p.m. EDT on the 9th. About 285 acres were burned. The cause was determined to be a campfire. Campfires were banned by the New Jersey Forestry Service because of the unseasonably dry weather.
