event_narrativeThe Potato Complex Fire started on June 6th, 2006, and originally consisted of four separate lightning-caused fires ten miles northwest of Heber-Overgaard, Arizona. Named for Potato Creek, the Potato complex burned in Ponderosa Pine, grass understory, Pinyon, and Juniper on the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. There were 374 personnel assigned to this fire including 7 Regular Crews, 2 Camp Crews, 7 Dozers, 13 Engines, 11 Water Tenders, 2 Air Tankers, and a light Helicopter. The fire burned about 6,300 acres with a total suppression cost of about $3.5 million.
