| episode_narrative | On Wednesday, morning, August 6, 2014, ODF Incident Management Team 1 (Incident Commander John Buckman) was dispatched to the Rowena Fire, reported at approximately 9 p.m. PDT, Tuesday, August 5, burning six miles west of The Dalles. Joint command was established with the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office, who dispatched OSFM IMT Green (Incident Commander John Ingrao) on this fire, and the Governor's Office also declared the fire a Conflagration Act on Wednesday morning, enabling firefighters and resources from other counties in Oregon to assist with structure protection on this fire.|| On Saturday, August 9, structure protection resources associated with the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office were released from the Rowena Fire||FINAL INFORMATION FROM ODF IMT 1:|At 1 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, August 12, the Rowena Fire was 90 percent contained and ODF IMT 1 returned management of the fire to the ODF Central Oregon District - The Dalles Unit. A local fire team will continue work on this fire, finishing any needed mop-up to achieve 100 percent containment and control, as well as patrolling and monitoring it through the end of fire season.||This Inciweb Site includes the FINAL information from ODF IMT 1 on this fire (news release, maps, etc.) and is no longer being updated, nor will there be any further information posted to this site. The data in the Basic Information, listed below, is effective Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at 1500 hours (subsequent to transition to the local team) and is from the FINAL Incident Status Summary (ICS-209). ||As of August 12th: Mop-up continues on the 3,680-acre Rowena Fire, particularly on the west end above the homes on Highway 30 and in the area of McCall Point. Helicopters on Monday dropped buckets of water onto hot spots in the canyon below McCall Point; fire crews have limited access to this area, which is steep and dangerous due to rock slides and falling trees. | |Structures were threatened and some areas were evacuated. ||The fire is now 90% contained and command of the fire is being transferred to a Type 3 Incident Management Team (IC Burin) at 1:00 p.m. today. ODF���s Incident Command Team #1 assumed fire suppression responsibility for the fire Aug. 6. |
