episode_narrativeOn the afternoon of the 23rd, a wildfire was discovered about 4 miles northwest of Mountain Pine in Garland County. The fire was located on a peninsula in Lake Ouachita, within the Ouachita National Forest. Recent dry weather, low humidities, and occasional windy conditions had made conditions favorable for wildfires. This fire was started by an escaped campfire. It was named the Frostbite Fire, because firefighters often had to deal with very chilly conditions. The fire eventually burned 2131 acres, which included the wildfire itself and areas that were back-burned to control the fire. Control of the fire was achieved on the morning of the 29th.
