On May 24th, the fire jumped the southern periphery and threatened 30 homes in Felda, although no homes were damaged. The fire consumed a total of 4,450 acres.||Other smaller fires started by lightning burned across Hendry County in early June during a period of extreme drought conditions. These fires were contained by June 12th and did not damage any property.
