episode_narrativeSeveral wildfires broke out in Gregory and Charles Mix Counties during the four day period. Warm and dry weather, strong winds, and dry vegetation due to extended dry weather preceding this time contributed to the fires starting and spreading. The fires affected grassland and cropland, including baled hay.
event_narrativeSeveral wildfires damaged grassland and crops. The largest fire started just south of Lake Andes on October 6th and burned about 400 large round hay bales in addition to grassland. One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation fighting this fire. Firefighters were called to the same site the next day as flames sparked up again. No other injuries were reported to humans or livestock. The amount of crop damage was not known.
