episode_narrativeDry weather continued into the second week of October. The lack of rainfall, low humidities, and unusually warm temperatures permitted favorable conditions for the development of wildfires.
event_narrativeA wildfire at Camp Robinson, which began on the 5th and was brought under control on the 9th, flared up again on the 14th. The flare-up was likely due to gusty thunderstorm winds which passed through the area late on the 13th. The fire on the 14th burned about 500 acres. The wind direction brought much of the smoke from the fire over the Little Rock and North Little Rock areas through mid-afternoon on the 14th. The smoke caused many people to call 911, believing that a fire was nearby.
