episode_narrativeDry weather, occasional gusty winds, and low humidities continued to create conditions favorable for wildfires in the latter part of October.
event_narrativeA wildfire burned 221 acres near the Orion community in northeast Grant County. Although some homes were threatened by the fire, aggressive firefighting prevented any structures from being lost. The Arkansas Forestry Commission used three air tankers and five bulldozers in the firefighting effort. Numerous fire departments were also on the scene, including departments from Grant, Saline, Pulaski, and Jefferson counties. The fire was believed to have been started by a resident burning trash. A burn ban was in effect at the time and a citation was issued to the homeowner.
