episode_narrativeA wildfire charred about 100 acres of brush at a Sunoco Refinery in West Deptford Township (Gloucester County) on the afternoon of the 6th. The fire began about 130 p.m. EDT in a wooded area and the wind pushed it into a field. It raged for nearly three hours before about one hundered firefighters from ten different companies were able to control it. The recent dry weather and strong winds during the afternoon carried flames across dry patches of fields between the refinery and homes along Red Bank Avenue. No homes on Red Bank Avenue or Ninth Street were evacuated. Flames came within 100 feet of homes on Ninth Street before they were stopped. The peak wind gust at Philadelphia International Airport that afternoon was 30 mph from the east.
