event_narrativeThe La Brea Wildfire burned 89,489 acres of land in the mountains of Santa Barbara county in the Los Padres National Forest. The cause of the fire was determined to be a cooking fire at an illegal marijuana operation in the forest. Fortunately only two structures were destrouyed: a hunter's cabin and a unused ranger's cabin. The main conditions driving this wildfire were hot temperatures, very low relative humidity and a very old and dry fuel bed. Overall, the estimated cost to suppress the fire was $23 million.
