| episode_narrative | A wildfire scorched a heavily forested strip of land nearly two miles long in Bowmanstown and Lower Towamensing Township in Carbon County. There was concern that the fire might damage some homes and buildings, but none were damaged. The fire was reported about 4 p.m. EDT and started behind the Bowmanstown Fire Company. Homes on Fireline Road were threatened as the fire traveled along the top of a ridge that runs the length of the street east toward Palmerton. Seven fire companies assisted battling the blaze and it was contained in about two hours.||The wildfire occurred on the last warm day in a stretch of unseasonably warm weather for late April. High temperatures in the Poconos reached into the 80s each day from April 25th through April 28th. Strong southwest to northwest winds occurred during the day on the 28th as a cold front moved through the Poconos. The peak wind gust at Mount Pocono (Monroe County) on the 28th was 38 mph from the westnorthwest. |
