Two fire starts in Quay and eastern San Miguel Counties respectively named the 352 and Leche wildfires rapidly grew before being mostly contained within 24 to 36 hours.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe 352 wildfire ignited along NM 469 north of San Jon and east Tucumcari. The fire was wind driven and quickly grew to 2,674 acres before with smoke visible from I-40. NM 469 was closed north of San Jon and state officials were conducting house-to-house notifications for residences nearby. Two abandoned structures were destroyed.
