Winds gusts of 50 to 70 mph were common. County Road 169 fire started near Matheson around noon and quickly spread into Lincoln County, covering 5,598 acres. A second large fire (300 to 400 acres) started in southeast Weld County and spread into southwest Morgan County. No known structures were impacted by either fire. Several other smaller fire were also reported on the 17th.
