The fire continued to spread through the first half of the month. Spreading slowed somewhat when the first snow arrived on October 16th, the a more substantial snow at the end of the month led to the fire being 84 percent contained by October 31st. The fire caused more periodic closures of US 26 over Togwotee Pass through the month. By October 31st, the fire had burned more than 89,000 acres.
