The fire was located 13 to 30 miles southwest of Silver Lake, in the Yamsay Mountain Semi-Primitive Area on the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Lake County, Oregon. The fire was caused by lightning. As of 530 AM PST on October 1st, it had burned 5,758 acres, was 98% contained, no structures had been destroyed, and it had cost $ 16.2M.
