Southerly winds gusted as high as 50 to 70 mph at times in the late morning and afternoon, which caused sporadic tree and building damage across the area. A considerable amount of blowing dust also occurred with the strongest winds, with visibility briefly a mile or less. The strong winds combined with very low humidity and dormant vegetation resulted in numerous wildfires. |
