Moderate to strong north winds combined with cured ground fuels from several freeze events in January and February allowed for rapid wildfire growth. The La Grulla Fire in southeastern Starr County ignited on March 12th around 5:00PM CDT and continued until 9:30AM CDT on March 14th when it was announced it was 100 percent contained. The fire consumed a total of 578 acres. |
