A few of the storms proved capable of producing sporadic damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall, supported by strong instability with CAPE values reaching as high as 2,000 J/Kg across the mountains by late afternoon. Precipitable water values at 1.5 inches, was an indication of a moist enough atmosphere to support heavy rain. The stronger storms were observed producing rainfall amounts as high as 5 inches per hour.
