Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeTroughing across the eastern CONUS and the subtropical ridge worked in concert to aid S/SW flow in lofting a continuous plume of tropical moisture across South Florida in the wake of Isaias as it recurved towards the NE. Given sufficient daytime heating, scattered thunderstorms developed across the east coast metro, one producing lightning that striked a construction worker.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLocal 10 News reported that Lauderhill Fire-Rescue responded to a construction worker working at Castle Hill Elementary who had been struck by lightning. Other workers at the school reported that the man was thrown about 15 feet by the lightning strike. He was taken to the hospital, but thankfully, listed in stable condition.||Time of the event is based on lightning strike archive data courtesy of Vaisala's lightning detection network which showed a cloud-to-ground strike in close proximity.
