The heaviest rainfall occurred during the morning and afternoon of the 30th, as a mesoscale convective system that developed near Wichita during the early morning of the 30th moved slowly eastward into southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri. Repeated development of storms over the region led to rainfall accumulations in excess of four inches over portions of Stone, Christian, Cherokee and Bourbon Counties. Numerous reports of flash flooding were received in these areas. |
