Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA line of thunderstorms that developed across northwest Iowa, moved along the Minnesota, Iowa border and bowed out from near Albert Lea to southeast Minnesota early Thursday. This storm produced a line of damaging winds around Albert Lea, eastward to Austin, Minnesota. There was also a house fire associated with lightning strikes north of Freeborn.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeAn attic fire was reported about three quarters of a mile north of Freeborn. It was caused by a lightning strike at about 2:30 a.m. cst. A husband and wife were home at the time of the fire, but were able to leave the house safely. The damage was estimated to be close to $3,000.
