| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | An unseasonably strong storm system lifted northward from Iowa into Minnesota on August 18th. This caused a warm front to lift northward across eastern Iowa and warm and moist air to flood into the region. Showers and thunderstorms developed across eastern Iowa during the afternoon and evening hours. These thunderstorms produced an EF-0 tornado 3 miles northwest of Stanwood in Cedar County. The storms also produced thunderstorm wind damage in Jones and Des Moines Counties along with hail the size of peas. Torrential rains of 2 to 3 inches caused flash flooding in Clinton County. |
