Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAlthough high pressure aloft was reasserting itself over the southeast states, a weak front was draped across north Georgia. This combined with northwest flow aloft, hot surface temperatures, and a very moist and unstable air mass resulted in yet another day of scattered to numerous afternoon and evening thunderstorms, several of which became severe.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Daily Tribune News of Cartersville reported that lightning struck a home on Lazy Water Drive in Euharlee. The attic was set on fire and about 75 to 100 percent of the attic was burned. Other parts of the home also sustained smoke and water damage. A double-wide mobile home was also struck by lightning in Taylorsville on Old Alabama Road. This home was a total loss as a result of the lightning strike.
