| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | An unseasonably strong cold front passed across the central Appalachians during the evening of June 27th. Storm intensity increased east of a lee surface trough across the Piedmont of North Carolinas into Virginia. Heavy precipitation loading occurred with some of the storms due to a very moist atmosphere, where precipitable water values were observed exceeding 1.5 inches. Damaging wind gusts also occurred due to downward mixing of momentum associated with the 30 to 40 knot mean southwesterly lower and mid tropospheric wind flow. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Lightning struck a mobile home, causing a hot water heater to catch fire that resulted in minor damage. |
