Thunderstorm rains caused significant flash flooding in Martinsville. Flood waters washed out one bridge on Smith Lake Road, flooded 25 roads, with up to 4 feet of water on business U.S. Route 220, caused a mudslide onto U.S. Route 58, and flooded three businesses along the Smith River. A woman was rescued by police from her car that was nearly completely submerged in flood waters.Lightning during the evening of the 21st struck 3 houses in Henry County, starting fires that damaged the houses.
